Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya demands female talk show host conduct live interview from a separate room

Sheikh Abdel Maged from Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya demands that female host, Hala Sarhan conduct her interview from a separate room in the programme on elections to be aired tonight
A leader from the Islamic group, Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya, has agreed to appear on a television talk show, but only if the female presenter conducts the interview from a separate room.
The leader, Sheikh Assem Abdel Maged had agreed to be interviewed by TV star Hala Sarhan on her programme Nasbook, but requested that she remain in another room during the interview and present her questions to him through a screen.
He added that if the programme refuses to meet his request, he will not appear but will do the interview through the phone.
Earlier this year Aboud El-Zommor, one of the group's main players who was imprisoned for participating in the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, appeared with unveiled TV presenter Mona El-Shazzly on her programme shortly after his release.
However, Abdel Maged told Ahram Online that two months following the interview, the group decided to boycott all non-veiled presenters and that, in fact, they turned down several invitations to appear on various TV channels for that very reason.
Sarhan's programme, which is expected to air tonight, will focus on the upcoming parliamentary elections.
She was expected to host several guests, including journalist Wael Kandeel, Islamic expert Amar Hasan, as well as Abdel Maged.
It is expected that the programme will, indeed, comply with Abdel Maged's demand and has been preparing a separate room for him with all the necessary equipment needed to conduct the interview.
Sarhan will sit in another room with the other guests.
