Egyptian medical association elections under judicial supervision for first time in 19 years
Today members of the Medical Association will vote in local union elections across Egypt - for the first time in 19 years under judicial supervision

Egypt's Medical Association is currently holding elections for positions on the board of directors and council for unions across all 27 governorates today, Friday.
This marks the first elections under judicial supervision in 19 years.
Voters will be able to cast their vote with phosphoric ink for the first time, from 9am to 5pm (local Cairo time). Voters can use their ID, union membership card, passport or driver's licence to vote.
Twenty three candidates are running for chairman and 198 for the General Council of the Bar. Of the 198 candidates, 24 are previous members of the association's council.
Post-revolution, labour union members have been emboldened to demand that their entire leadership be sacked because they are seen as Mubarak-regime cronies. Members demand elections to replace the board and leadership of various unions, associations and universities.
