Egypt's first Pecha Kucha Night to take place at Goethe Institute The Japanese style presentation project has reached Egypt, with its first event set to take place on Tuesday 4 October at the Goethe Institute's Tahrir Lounge
The Pecha Kucha Night (PKN) has finally reached Egypt. The line up of speakers will include graphic designers, photographers, street artists, architects and others, presenting on an array of political, urban and social issues. The term Pecha Kucha originates from a Japanese word meaning "chit chat." The first Pecha Kucha Night event took place in February 2003 in Tokyo as a way of attracting audiences to an experimental event space where a number of presentations are screened. Each presentation is introduced via a Japanese methodology of presenting 20 slides with each shown for 20 seconds, giving the presentations a specific and fast pace dynamic. The experiment proved successful and in 2004 PKN began in a few European cities, soon spreading worldwide. By 2010, over 400 PKNs were held in cities around the globe. Egypt's PKN night will take place onTuesday 4 October at 6pm at the Goethe Institute's Tahrir Lounge on5 El Bostan St, Downtown, Cairo.
