Egypt, the world's largest wheat importer, has bought 240,000 tonnes of Russian wheat for November 21-30 shipment and a further 180,000 tonnes for December 1-10 on a free on board basis, the main government wheat buyer said on Wednesday. Nomani Nomani, vice chairman of the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), gave the following breakdown of the purchases: For shipment Nov. 21-30: - 60,000 tonnes from Alegrow at $277.77 per tonne with freight costs of $15.76 - 60,000 tonnes from Louis Dreyfus at $278.44 per tonne with freight costs of $15.76 - 60,000 tonnes from Louis Dreyfus at $278.44 per tonne with freight costs of $15.76 - 60,000 tonnes from Abu Donkol at $278.44 per tonne with freight costs of $15.50 For shipment Dec. 1-10: - Two cargoes each 60,000 tonnes from Louis Dreyfus at $278.44 per tonne with freight costs of $15.50 - 60,000 tonnes from Cargill at $278.95 per tonne with freight costs of $15.76 Since the start of the 2011/12 fiscal year on 1 July, GASC has purchased 1.98 million tonnes of Russian wheat and 180,000 tonnes of Romanian wheat.
