Egypt's core annual inflation dropped to 6.98 per cent in the year to August from 8.71 percent in July, the country's central bank said on its website on Sunday. Core inflation strips out subsidised goods and volatile items including fruit and vegetables. Urban consumer price inflation, the most closely watched indicator of prices, also eased to 8.5 per cent in the 12 months to August down from 10.4 per cent in July.
