Zambia have appointed Honour Janza as first-team manager, replacing French coach Patrice Beaumelle who stepped down earlier this week. After just nine months in charge of Zambia, Beaumelle resigned as head coach to team up with compatriot Herve Renard as Ivory Coast's assistant manager. But it did not take the Zambia football association (ZFA) too long to name a replacement, as Janza was recruited at the helm of the Chipolopolo just four days later. "It is a huge challenge, but we believe Janza has the credentials to excel," FA chief Kalusha Bwalya said. "It is also an opportunity for a local coach to show what he has learned in the last five years associated with Herve Renard and company. "Chipolopolo has a massive following with huge expectations among our very passionate fans and followers. We are confident that the whole Zambia will rally behind the team, as always, and support Janza and the boys." Janza's first challenge will be the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which will see Zambia open their Group F campaign at home to Mozambique on 6 September, before visiting Cape Verde four days later.
