Al-Arish- Egyptian border guards have arrested five African migrants attempting to enter Israel illegally, a security source said Sunday. Police said that the group - three Ethiopians and two Eritreans - surrendered after border guards fired warning shots into the air. The detainees, held in a prison in the nearby town of al-Arish, said that they had paid 1,000 dollars each to human traffickers to smuggle them across the border to find work in Israel. Egyptian border guards frequently arrest African migrants trying to cross into Israel without papers, sometimes using lethal force. Israel has announced plans to erect a wall along the boundary to prevent illegal migration.
