CAIRO: An airport policeman stands accused of stealing an iPhone from the box where passengers put their belongings for scanning at Dubai airport, the Dubai Criminal Court heard. Additionally, he is also accused of altering a “lost and found” document. On February 19, the officer was on duty near a scanning machine at the airport. Passengers forgot to collect two Samsung mobiles, four watches and an iPhone. Four hours passed but no one came to collect the items. The accused officer omitted the iPhone from the list of lost items, when submitting his paperwork, according to a report in Emirates24/7. He later sold the purloined iPhone to a local shop. The airport security man confessed to the charges, when the Nigerian passenger whom had submitted a report on the lost items, said the iPhone was not among the items recovered. The impulsive theft will not only cost the policeman his job, but the verdict in the criminal case is pending, and expected in the first week of May.
