By winning the African Super Cup for a record fourth time, Ahli of Egypt cemented their position as the best there is on the continent. Inas Mazhar was at Cairo International Stadium for the celebrations To confirm their supremacy at the continental and regional level, Ahli of Egypt beat Tunisia's CS Sfaxien 2-1 for an unprecedented fourth African Super Cup. The annual one-off game which pits the African Champions League winner against the Confederation Cup holders, was a tense and physical affair. Four yellow cards were handed out, three to the visiting team. In front of a high spectator turn-out at Cairo International Stadium and while the fans had no sooner returned to their seats than they stunned by cheers as Angolan striker Flavio opened the scoring for Ahli one minute after the half-time break. Most had to turn to the giant screen for a replay of the goal. It was a superb goal that livened the spirits up of more than 50,000 fans. However, it didn't take long before Ivorian striker Kouassi Blaise leveled the score for Sfaxien. Flavio then struck again in the 70th minute to make it 2-1, and claim another trophy for the African champions. And as they did in the Champions League, Ahli surpassed their arch rivals Zamalek in the number of Super Cup trophies won. Ahli have now won four while Zamalek remain with three. Last year, Ahli's sixth time triumph of the African Champions League also gave the Red Devils one title more than Zamalek who have five. After receiving the trophy from CAF President Eissa Hayatou and top Egyptian sports officials, Ahli players celebrated on the pitch with their super star Mohamed Abou Treika who missed the match because of a muscle injury. Ahli coach Manuel Jose did not want to take the risk until full recovery is confirmed by the medical team. Abou Treika, the African BBC player of the year and a favourite to win the CAF award as well, watched the game from the stands and joined the team on the pitch in the celebrations. He would also miss the Egypt vs Ghana friendly which was scheduled for Cairo Stadium on Wednesday. The Ahli star flew to Nigeria to attend the CAF awards which was to be announced on Tuesday 10 February. Head coach Jose was the happiest man at the moment. No other foreign coach in Egyptian history has claimed so many titles with his team -- 18 crowns in four years. He told a post-game press conference that he always had faith in his players and believed in them, in crucial times and critical situations even more. And each time Jose leads his team to a title, his ambitious and eagerness to add more increases. "Now, the most important thing is to win the Egyptian League trophy. It is very important for us, the dawry," as Jose calls the league in Arabic. "We have better chances now after the loss of the top teams, Zamalek and Ismaili, and the drawing of Petrojet in their last match. Now, we have to beat Masri in our coming game. That will make it easier for us," Jose said. The Portuguese also said the team will start preparing for a new campaign to seek a seventh African Champions League trophy. Ahli might face Young Africans (Yangoa) of Tanzania who lead 8-1 against Etoile d'Or Mirontsy of the Comoros Islands after their first leg match. "So far, we know nothing about this team of Tanzania, but in a month's time we will definitely know. We will be watching the second-leg of their match."
