ASYUT: One of Asyut's finest artists Abdel Nasser Hassan's house collapsed on Tuesday, December 13. Hassan had been assigned the task of designing a statue of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak prior to the revolution by Asyut Governor Nabil el-Ezabi. In the house's collapse, the statue was severely damaged. The artist said the statue cost him more than 3,000 EGP, designing it more than once at different stages of the former president's life until the final design portrayed the former president at 82. He also said the house includes three floors, which fell on 200 painting and three statues which belonged to Mubarak, el-Ezabi and the chairman of the Asyut cement factory. “Only Mubarak's statue was damaged, with the head separated from the body,” added Hassan.
