CAIRO: A diplomatic source has said new Israeli Ambassador to Egypt Yakov Amitai will meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Kamel Amr on Wednesday, December 14, to submit a copy of his credentials. Amitai will also submit his credentials officially to the Head of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi. A source told Youm7, “The Israeli ambassador met officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, where they discussed Egyptian-Israeli relations.” The ambassador will not stay in Cairo permanently until they decide upon a headquarters for the embassy in Cairo, added the source. The headquarters of the embassy made up the core of the debate between the Israeli officials and Egyptian security bodies. The ambassador will assume his duties starting Wednesday, December 14 until he is formally adopted.
