CAIRO, July 1, 2018 (MENA) – The Arab Parliament will send a request to US Congress to remove Sudan from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism, its speaker Mishaal bin Fahm al Salami announced on Sunday. The announcement comes after an Arab Parliament's committee held a meeting to probe the possibility for implementing a pan-Arab body's operational plan to drop Sudan from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism. In a joint press conference with Sudanese Minister of State at the Sudanese Foreign Ministry Osama Faisal, al Salami said the operational plan will be discussed and endorsed during the Arab Parliament's session on Wednesday. The plan includes sending a letter to US congressmen, notably speakers of the US House of Representatives and the Senate on this matter, he added. The Arab Parliament is coordinating with the Arab League (AL) and the African Parliament to mobilize efforts towards achieving that goal, he noted.
