Interview: Egyptian ambassador to UAE on Al-Sisis' visit

Cairo and Abu Dhabi - Relations between the UAE and Egypt are witnessing broad rapprochement and understanding at the level of political leadership about issues of common concern, according to Ambassador of Egypt to the UAE, Wael al-Sayed Mohammed Gad.
He made the remark in a statement to WAM on the occasion of the official two-day visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to the UAE that began today.
The visit comes within the context of existing excellent relations at both at the popular and official levels that were established by the founder of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and are being continued under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ambassador added.
He described al-Sisi's visit as an opportunity to hold significant talks about ways of bolstering excellent relations and continue consultation and co-ordination about regional and international issues to contribute towards strengthening co-operation on addressing challenges facing the Arab Nation.
Speaking on the economic relations, he described the partnership between the UAE and Egypt as strategic.
The UAE is the largest foreign investor in Egypt with US$6.2 billion by the end of February 2017. Egypt's exports to the UAE reached $2.38 billion while its imports from the UAE stood at $885 million, he explained.
Cultural relations provide strengthens for increasing rapprochement and co-operation between the two countries, the Egyptian ambassador said, and noted that preparations are being made to organise a number of cultural and art events to contribute towards stronger relations.
