Salafi leader: You need us to fight ISIS in Libya & Egypt
Published in Albawaba on 29 - 01 - 2017

Cairo - On his Facebook page, ‘Sameh Abdul-Hamid', a leader in Salafist movement of Egypt, called for underscoring the speech of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Libyan National Army Commander (LNA), marking the liberation of ‘Qunfudah', west Benghazi, from the remaining extremists, in which Haftar thanked the Salafis for their role in ‘Operation Al-Karamah' to eliminate the remnants of ISIS-allied terrorists there.
Abdul-Hamid urged the Egyptian government to involve the Salafis into the intellectual battle against ISIS so that the youth would be immunized against the lures of these extremist groups, and be protected from turning into suicide bombers all of a sudden. He pointed out that ‘security confrontation' alone is not enough to fend off the menace of ISIS whose agenda is chiefly hell-bent on contaminating the minds of young generations and wreaking havoc in the land.
We should never underestimate the power of ‘intellectual resistance' which is central to exposing extremists' belligerence and misguidance. Only then we will be able to halt the radicalization roadmap of these dangerous fanatics in the region.
He stressed that with the help of Salafis, Libyan army (LNA) was able to defeat ISIS allies there, and liberate Qunfudah area from their grip.
He called upon the Egyptian government to let Salafis organize awareness sessions and seminars about ‘ISIS's threat' for the purpose of dispelling its common misconceptions and refuting its false arguments and allegations.
Abdul Hamid reiterated that our youth are in dire need of an ‘intellectual salvation' from pervert ideologies like that of ISIS or else they might fall into the clutches of these terror groups, and at that point it will be too late.
