4 Indians were kidnapped by suspected ISIS terrorists few days back of which two have been released. Many wondered why ISIS, known for their brutality, released two of the kidnapped individuals so tamely. Now an answer has emerged to that mystery. According to a report published in a national daily, their profession may well be the reason why two of the individuals managed to get away from the clutches of the dreaded militant group. Speaking to the newspaper, Vijay Kumar, who is a faculty with Sirte, University Libya said that he had initially been locked up, along with three others, in a tiny dark room. The gory images of what ISIS does to its prisoners passed through his mind. A few hours after that, things changed for the better. Their abductors asked them their name, profession and religion. According to Vijay, once ISIS men heard that kidnapped individuals are teachers, their attitude softened remarkably. The leader of the abductors, told the Indians that they had great respect for teachers. They further said that since all of them had helped educate Libyan children, they will not be blindfolded or harmed. Vijay Kumar, originally from Kolar, and his colleague from Raichur, Laxmikanth Ramakrishna, along with two others from Hyderabad, were kidnapped on Wednesday. Vijay and Laxmikanth were later released. Laxmikanth told the newspaper that they were travelling to the airport for their annual vacation back home when tragedy struck them. They were abducted near a checkpost, around 50 km from Sirte. They were brought to an undisclosed location and all their precious belongings were taken away. ISIS men asked them about the reason behind leaving the country and what they know about Islam. The next day they were shifted to another camp. Tragically, some of the students they taught were also part of the terrorist group, according to Vijay. But both of them recounted that they were provided proper food and accommodation. Later, all their luggage was returned including valuable items. ISIS men accompanied them to the university to check their passport. After the check, their ordeal ended. The ISIS abductor even asked the university to immediately renew Laxmikanth's contract, which had not been extended yet. However, as of now, Laxmikanth has no plans to return to the war-ravaged country and wants to stay in his home state of Karnataka. It was a close shave for them but the future remains uncertain for the two men from Hyderabad, who are still held captives by ISIS.
