Ivory Coast's Kone scores but Wigan lose to West Bromwich in EPL Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone on target but Wigan failed to make use of home advantage and lose to West Brom 2-1 in the English Premier League on Saturday
Premier League surprise team West Bromwich Albion stayed 5th in the standings with a 2-1 win at Wigan on Saturday. Wigan was the better team for much of the first half, dominating possession and creating two good chances for Ben Watson. However, West Brom made the breakthrough after half an hour. Chris Brunt's deflected cross looped over Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi and James Morrison's perfectly timed run gave him an easy headed goal. West Brom's second came after Billy Jones' cross hit Wigan captain Gary Caldwell, sending the ball into his own net. Arouna Kone reduced the deficit in the 44th and the Latics piled on the pressure but could not claim a point. Al Habsi made an impressive save in the 55th from Romelu Lukaku's powerful shot.
