Nigeria's coach Stephan Keshi revealed on Thursday that Yakubu Ayegbeni's future with the Super Eagles will be at risk if he completes his move to the Chinese League, which is technically inferior to the Premier League.
The 29-year-old striker, who scored 17 goals with Blackburn Rovers last season, is close to signing a lucrative deal with Chinese Super League side, Guangzhou R and F.
"It's difficult to say now because I'm not sure the league there is of the same intensity as the EPL," Keshi told KickOff.com. "We'll have to study the situation and make our assessment after we have considered everything. But I'm really happy for him because he's going towards the end of his career and a move like that is good for him personally."
It was rumoured that the Chinese side offered €6 million for the player in the year.
"We can't use everybody at once. But nobody has been discarded. As long as the players are fit and playing well for their clubs, everybody is still a part of the team," Keshi concluded.
