The Ghanaian Football Association (GFA) officially announced on Tuesday the appointment of James Kwesi Appiah as the new coach of Ghana's national football team. "The decision was taken by the association's Executive Committee on Tuesday after approving the report of the six-man coaching search committee," reads a statement on the GFA's official website. "Appiah will be handed a two-year contract and will start his duties on 1 May, 2017,” the statement said. "He will also take full charge of the Local Black Stars." The 56-year-old Appiah previously took the charge of the Black Stars from 2012 to 2014; guiding them to the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. Cameroon coach Hugo Broos and Willy Sagnol of France were recently interviewed by the GFA for the post, which has been vacant since the departure of former coach Avram Grant, who resigned after losing to Cameroon in the African cup semis in February.
