Egypt's military defused Sunday 18 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in villages southern Sheikh Zuwaid, North Sinai, Al Bawaba News reported. The IEDs, planted in a mine field, were defused by bullets, military sources said, indicating the move comes within the framework of a military campaign against terrorist hotbeds in the restive Sinai Peninsula. Since the ouster of Muslim Brotherhood (MB) president Mohamed Morsi July 2013, Sinai has witnessed a string of deadly blasts claiming hundreds of lives, mostly among police personnel.
