Egyptian security sources said bomb disposal experts defused Saturday three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on the Qena-Aswan Desert Road. The bombs, consisting of water bottles, wires, batteries and gunpowder, were planted under a pylon by the side of the road, the sources added. Since former president Mohamed Morsi's ouster in July 2013, IED blasts caused thousands of casualties in Egypt, particularly in the restive Sinai Peninsula. The IS-related Wilayat Sinai terrorist organization has repeatedly claimed responsibility for the bombings.
