Harras Hodoud won the first trophy in their history as they defeated ENPPI 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw to claim the Egyptian Cup title on Sunday. Substitute Ahmed Mekki fired Hodoud in front in the first half of extra time after the teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time. Ahmed Raouf drew ENPPI level in the 106th minute. Neither side could score in the remaining minutes, forcing the game into a penalty shootout. Hodoud keeper Mathurin Kameni blocked Manu's spot-kick before ENPPI full-back Abdullah Ragab saw his shot come back off the post. Trio Amr Al-Dali, Ahmed Saied and Ahmed Abdul-Ghani traded successful kicks before Cameroonian Kameni settled the match into Hodoud's favor after sending ENPPI keeper Al-Mahdi Soliman the wrong way. ENPPI missed out on the chance of winning their second cup in history after losing their second successive final. Anwar Salama's team were handed a 2-1 defeat to Zamalek last season. Cautious Both sides were too cautious in the first-half, but ENPPI had the upper hand after being helped by Ahmed Al-Muhammadi's moves down the right flank The Egyptian international, who was reportedly a Blackburn Rovers target, unsettled Hodoud's left back Mohamed Mekki through his superb footwork and accurate crosses. He was the architect of ENPPI's sole opportunity to open the scoring in a dull first half. In the 31st minute, Al-Muhammadi skipped past Mekki before whipping in a pinpoint cross to Vincent Die Foneye, who rose unmarked to head goalwards but Kameni's brilliant one-handed save denied him. Hodoud's efforts were restricted to some tame shots from Mohamed Al-Herda and Ahmed Eid. Their strike duo, Abdul-Hamid Bassiouni and Abdul-Ghani, were kept at bay by ENPPI's three-man defense.
No Chances Both sides failed to create any clear-cut chance in a boring second half. Hodoud forward Eid had a penalty claim waved away by the referee after being apparently brought down by Abdul-Aziz Tawfeek. Abdul-Ghani, who wasn't at his best, failed to get on the end of Abdul-Salam Nagah's cross at the far post 16 minutes from time. Hodoud coach Tarek Al-Ashri introduced Ahmed Salama and Ahmed Mekki in a bid to improve his side's attacking display. The duo hardly made an impact in the second period but combined well to notch Hodoud's opener five minutes into the first-half of extra time. ENPPI goalie Soliman could only parry Abdul-Ghani's shot into the path of striker Salama, who played the ball across the six-yard box to Mekki for an easy tap-in. Al-Muhammadi set-up Raouf for the equalizer just before the end of the extra-time's first half. Raouf towered unopposed to head the 21-year-old's inch-perfect cross into the back of the net. But ENPPI's celebrations were cut short by Hodoud's excellence in penalties. Hodoud's goal ENPPI's goal Penalty shootout
