CAIRO, April 24, 2018 - Transport Minister Hesham Arafat said on Tuesday that over the past few years, Egypt had witnessed unprecedented efforts to achieve economic and social renaissance and attract more investment, by providing an encouraging security, legislative and administrative climate. Arafat was speaking at the 2018 edition of the Middle East and North Africa Transport Congress and Exhibition in Dubai, which was attended by 70 spokespersons and exhibitors from 21 countries. In his speech, Minister Arafat said that the Egyptian achievements in infrastructure projects, mainly in the transport field, was a strong indicator of the opportunities available in Egypt and the encouraging investment climate for certain projects in the various fields of transport, especially the railway and urban transport sectors. Minister Arafat also reviewed several investment projects that were being carried out in the railway and the underground transport sector in Egypt. Also addressing the Congress was Brent Toderian, the international expert in urban planning and sustainable transport. He praised Dubai's success in increasing the public transport use rates since 2006. The Middle East and North Africa Transport Congress and Exhibition is a three-day event being held from April 23 to April 25, 2018 at the UITP MENA (the international transport organisation for the Middle East and North Africa), in Dubai. The event showcases products related to the road industry, including parking and traffic solutions in the logistics and transport industry.
