Egypt to sign free trade agreement with UK following latter's exit from Europe according to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Niven Gamea. She added during a conference organised by The British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA) that a semi-final free trade agreement has been reached as Egypt has been conducting intense negotiations with UK during the last period. Gamea added that the trade ministry wanted to get additional benefits with regards to agricultural exports, especially since England considers Egypt its entrance to Africa. UK is the first place in terms of the foreign investment portfolio in Egypt, which reached about $5.348 billion dollars by the end of last year, accounting for 45.8 percent of the total investment inflows into the Egyptian market by the end of the fiscal year 2018/2019. In addition, UK has total investments of $47.8 billion dollars, through 1817 companies. The value of trade between Egypt and the United Kingdom increased during the past year to record about $3.18 billion compared to $3 billion in 2018, with a growth rate of 5.4 percent However, the trade balance is in Britain's interest by about $102 million according to the Foreign Trade Bulletin issued by Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS)
