Baghdad - Iraqi military sources said Monday that 20 IS militants were killed in a raid launched by Iraqi warplanes near the Syrian borders. The Iraqi side received a tip on the presence of the terrorist group militants then carried out the raid, Iraqi Military Spokesperson Mohamed al-Khdary said in statements to the US-funded Radio Sawa. Reports said Al-Hashd Shaabi units, backed by helicopter gunships, fought heavy clashes with IS militants when dozens of extremists attacked the military base at the border post of Tal Sufoug near Syria. Paramilitary units are deployed in the desert near the Syrian border to prevent cross-border IS movement between Iraq and Syria.
