Qatar has declared its support to Egypt and its economy, affirming that Egypt is an important state within the Arab nation, according to statements of the Qatari FM to Asharq Al Awsat Newspaper Thursday. "Our relations with Egypt haven't changed, Egypt is an important state in the Arab region. It's also important to us that Egypt remains strong with a robust economy," Qatari FM Khalid Al Attiyah said Thursday during a visit to France. "We never overlooked our obligations towards Egypt and the Egyptian people, since the revolution and under President Al Sisi's rule", he added. Egyptian-Qatari relations deteriorated after MB President Mohamed Morsi's ouster yet Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani paid a visit to Egypt March 2015, to take part in the 26th Arab Summit in Sharm El Sheikh. Al Attiyah commented on the Saudi-led airstrikes in Yemen saying that they aimed at compelling all parties to resume negotiations and complete the Gulf initiative by electing a new president.
