Giza Criminal Court will resume Thursday the trial of Alaa and Gamal Mubarak as well as other co-defendants on alleged charges of stock market manipulation, according to judicial sources. The two sons of the ousted president Hosni Mubarak, together with seven entrepreneurs and officials at the Egyptian National Bank face charges of wasting public money and damaging banking system through garnering illegal profiteering. Alaa and Gamal are accused of illicitly gaining EGP 12 million and funneling more than EGP 1 billion to other profiteers, judicial sources told Al-Bawaba News. The Mubarak brothers made their first public appearance April 4 during a funeral of an Egyptian luminous journalist's mother after they had been acquitted in January of all other charges they once faced including killing of protesters during the 2011 uprising.
