Holiday FAQs

Q: I recently read a copy of your summer holiday article and wondered if you could advise me on the cheapest way to book a room at The Oberoi, Sahl Hasheesh? The rates you mentioned were much lower than the ones the hotel is quoting. Who should I book through to get the best rates? I live in the UK and I would be flying into Hurghada.
Many thanks,
Mrs Sheila Bower
A: The rate I mentioned in the summer bargains article are only applicable to Egyptians and foreign residents in Egypt, not for non-resident foreigners. This point was mentioned at the beginning of the story. Rates for non- resident foreigners are much higher than those open to Egyptians and foreign residents, who enjoy about 50 per cent discount of the hotel rate.
My advice is to contact a travel agency at home as they could have deals with various hotels and resorts in Egypt, including The Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh. Also I would advise you to visit two interesting Web sites that offer lucrative packages for travellers, namely www.intoegypt.com and www.2travel2egypt.com.
