No regional stability without the Palestinians' rights, Egypt's UN ambassador says

Egypt stresses that there is no room for achieving security and stability in the Middle East region without the Palestinian people obtaining their legitimate rights through the establishment of their state, said Egypt's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Mohamed Idris.
Idris' comments came during a celebration held by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people that takes place on December 1st.
The UN representative stressed Egypt's historical role in supporting the Palestinian cause, as a top issue in Egypt's foreign policy agenda.
The celebration was attended by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, ambassadors of Palestine, the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the African Union, alongside representatives of the Presidency of the Security Council, the Presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement, Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Population of the Occupied Territories, and civil society organizations.
The participant high profile officials confirmed the joint position on the Palestinian issue and support for the rights of the Palestinian people by establishing their independent state based on the borders set on June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital; in accordance with international legal decisions that include UN resolutions; Security Council Resolution 2334 of 2016; the Land for Peace Principle; the Arab Peace Initiative; the Madrid Principles; and the Two-State Solution.
The Secretary-General of the UN also indicated that the Palestinian issue continues since the inception of the UN, adding that despite the halt of the Israeli annexation plans settlement activity is still carried out - particularly in East Jerusalem - violating international laws and undermining the Two-State Solution.
Guterres expressed hope on the recent developments in the region to support the resumption of negotiations between the two sides. He added that the UN supports talks that affirm the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.
In the same context, Guterres urged the international community to provide the necessary support to UNRWA.
