Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly received a report Monday from Social Solidarity Minister Niveen el Qabbaj on efforts exerted to equip new medical isolation facilities to receive coronavirus (Covid-19) cases. Qabbaj said that a plan was prepared in coordination with the ministries of health, higher education, and youth and sports to equip university hospitals, youth centers and other state-owned facilities to be used as isolation centers. The newly-equipped facilities are located in Cairo, Alexandria, Daqahlia, Luxor, Assiut, Ismailia, Minia, Damietta and Qena, with a total capacity of 4,305 beds, she said. Qabbaj pointed out that the UNESCO headquarters in Menoufia was prepared as well to receive 200 Covid-19 patients, adding that two dormitories in Cairo and Alexandria, as well as the headquarters of Ahl Masr (Egypt's people) Foundation are being equipped to be used as isolation centers.
