Egypt's Al-Azhar denounced on Wednesday a terrorist attack that targeted a group of loggers in Nigeria's Maiduguri city, the capital of Borno state, an attack that left 14 people dead and four others missing. In a statement, Al-Azhar stressed its strong condemnation of this criminal act against innocent people. Al-Azhar called on the international community to unify its efforts to confront "those terrorist gangs" who threaten security of societies and undermine their stability. It extended its deepest condolences to Nigeria's president, government and people over the victims of the attack.
