Egypt's General Traffic Authority has reopened a major thoroughfare connecting the capital Cairo with the coastal city of Alexandria after it was temporarily closed due to fog on Tuesday morning, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported on . The Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road was briefly shut down earlier on Tuesday in both directions to prevent accidents due to the heavy fog that obscured visibility for drivers, the traffic authority said. The major road was reopened almost an hour later and traffic was reported to be moving freely in both directions.
