Egypt striker Bassem Morsi is a major doubt for the World Cup second-round qualifier return leg against Chad after receiving a hard knock to the ankle during the 1-0 first-leg defeat in N'Djamena. Morsi collided with the Chad keeper in the closing stages of the game, in what seemed to be a serious injury sustained by the Zamalek striker. "Bassem picked up a serious injury, he was transferred to the hospital right after the game," Egypt doctor Mohamed Abo El-Ela told reporters. "Cannot tell whether he would be able to play in the return leg or not." Egypt assistant manager Osama Nabih echoed the team doctor's sentiments, confirming that the injury suffered by Morsi is not a minor one. "Bassem has received a hard knock to the leg and will undergo scans in the coming few hours," Nabih told Al-Hayat TV. "Similarly, defender Ahmed Dwidar will undergo further tests to determine the extent of his hamstring injury. "We shall only call up new players in case that we have numerous injuries." Zamalek center-half Ahmed Dwidar was substituted in the second half by Ahly defender Saad Samir. Egypt host Chad in the return leg at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium, where the winner advance to a five four-team group stage.
