Ahmed Mekki and Moataz Eno steered Harras Hodoud to a thumping 3-0 Egyptian league victory over Ahli at Alexandria's Army Stadium. A blunder from Egypt full-back Ahmed Shedid allowed Mekki to give Hodoud the lead in the fifth minute before Eno, who was released by Ahli last year, doubled his side's lead on 51 minutes. Mekki then put the game to bed with another goal on 78 minutes as Hodoud registered their biggest-ever win over the Cairo giants since sealing top-flight promotion in 2002. It is Ahli's biggest domestic defeat since losing 3-0 to ENPPI in 2008 as Egypt international Mekki took his season tally to three goals. Hodoud snatch top spot from Ahli in Group A with a better goal difference and a game in hand. Captain Eno and lethal Mekki Mekki posed threat in as early as the second minute when his close-range header was parried by Sherif Ekrami following a quality cross by Eno. But the Egypt forward made no mistake on his second attempt when he capitalized on a horrendous back-pass from Shedid to Ekrami to slot home after rounding the keeper. The on-fire Mekki could have even made it three 30 minutes later when he superbly broke clear of defense before forcing a good save from Ekrami. The below-par Ahli, however, could have restored parity with striker Ahmed Abdul-Zaher almost scoring a fortuitous goal after the keeper's clearance hit him before rolling wide. Minutes later, the Reds saw a Mohamed Naguib header was cleared off the line. Ahli looked determined after the break and could have leveled the scoring but chipped effort from Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trezeguet' went just inches above. Just six minutes into the second half, Eno, who captained Hodoud for the first time, punished his old club with a magnificent trade-mark strike before urging his teammates not to celebrate. The African champions tried in vain to pull one back but struggled to pose threat on goal as Mekki made sure Ahli's frustrating night was complete with a point-blank strike 12 minutes from the end.
