Ahli missed two more penalties to make it three in four games but coasted to a 2-0 Egyptian Premier League home win over Bani Suef Telephones. A fortuitous goal from full-back Ahmed Shedid put Ahli ahead on 20 minutes before Egypt striker Al-Sayed Hamdi made it two in the second half. The Cairo giants, however, could have secured a comprehensive win if it wasn't for two first-half penalty misses by Egypt veteran Wael Gomaa and midfielder Abdullah Al-Saied. Al-Saied has now missed two penalties in four games, having been denied by the keeper against Ghazl Mahalla in the opener. Ahli move top of Group A on nine points, two ahead of second-placed ENPPI, who have a game in hand. Penalty nightmare Ahli took the lead when Shedid saw his crossed free-kick from the right flow past keeper Ali Farag despite not touching anyone on its way to the net. The hosts were then awarded a penalty after Mohamed Barakat, who cleverly won the foul that reulted in the first goal, had been tripped inside the area, only for Gomaa to miss the target from the spot. Ahli were then give another chance from 12 yards for a handball 10 minutes later and this time Al-Saied fired into the hands of keeper Ali Farag. Bani Suef almost punished the champions when Mohamed Abou-Greisha's overhead kick was superbly parried by Sherif Ekrami as Cameroonian forward Marc Mboua was guilty of a glaring miss on the rebound. The visitors, however, were undone when Hamdi followed in winter-signing Ahmed Abdul-Zaher's blocked effort to kill the game off with his first goal of the season on the hour mark.
