Egyptian Minister of Environment and President of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), Khaled Fahmy denied the allegations of Chair of the ADC Technical Committee Yvonne Khamati, saying that he didn't attend the meetings of United Nations Environment Assembly in Kenya, al-Masry al-Youm reported Tuesday. "Kenya's allegations are conflicting, since its officials claimed that the Egyptian minister of environment insulted Africans, and then said his consultants who made the statements," Fahmy told al-Masry al-Youm, adding that no Egyptian official can insult African people or any other peoples. "The ministry is preparing an official response to be sent to Kenya," Fahmy added. Africa Diplomatic Corps technical committee asked to prohibit Egypt from representing the continent in any official capacity, following allegations that Egyptian Minister for Environment referred to Africans from sub-Saharan Africa as "dogs and slaves," demanding Egypt of official apology over such insult. Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its complete refusal to the attempts to question its belonging to Africa, despite all its sacrifices for the continent's interest. According to the memo written by Khamati, the minister made the statement in Nairobi at the conclusion of the United Nations Environment Assembly.
