Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its complete refusal to the attempts to question its belonging to Africa, despite all its sacrifices for the continent's interest, al-Bawaba News reported Tuesday. The ministry's statement came in response to the campaign led by Chair of the ADC Technical Committee Yvonne Khamati against Egypt, following allegations that Egyptian Minister for Environment and President of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) referred to Africans from sub-Saharan Africa as "dogs and slaves." Egypt's foreign minister, Sameh Shoukry ordered to investigate the incident immediately, affirming that the available information negates the claims of Khamati. "It's unacceptable to accuse Egypt of such allegations, questioning its affiliation to Africa, or its capacity to discharge its responsibilities towards the continent," the statement reads. The statement pointed out that foreign ministry has ordered Egyptian embassy in Nairobi to direct a strongly worded memo to African ambassadors' council in Nairobi, and to be distributed on all African regional and international organizations, where Egypt crucially condemns the allegations of ADC Technical Committee chairman and her insult to Egypt. The ministry demanded the evidences of the incident to include it in the investigation. Africa Diplomatic Corps technical committee asked to prohibit Egypt from representing the continent in any official capacity. According to the memo written by Khamati, the minister made the statement in Nairobi at the conclusion of the United Nations Environment Assembly.
