Exhibition at Darb 1718 proves trash can be art In an effort to raise awareness of Cairo's mounting garbage crisis, Darb 1718 hosts an exhibition of art made from recycled household waste
An exhibition of art made from recycled household waste will open at Darb 1718 on Friday. A workshop in October called ‘Re-art Recycling Art' encouraged people to turn household waste into works of art. Participants used a wide array of materials including plastic bottles, newspapers, magazines, old tapes, CDs, and egg cartons to create art that was both creative and eco-friendly. The paintings, sculptures, mixed media and other creations will be exhibited from 9 November. In late August, Darb 1718 hosted a recycling festival dedicated to raising awareness of Cairo's waste management crisis. Programme: 9 November at 7pm Darb 1718 Qasr Al-Shamee St., Al-Fakhareen (behind the Hanging Church and the Amr Mosque), Cairo http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/57422.aspx
