CAIRO: Egyptian Minister of Interior, Mansour el-Essawi, denied reports claiming that the government is considering making law faculty graduates join the police sector in order to compensate for the shortage of police officers. El-Essawi said the shortage is not in police officers but in policemen. Police patrols will be practiced by cars and bike and not by walking, said el-Essawi during his visit to the Virgin Mary church in Imbaba. This will return security to the streets as well as arrest law violators, he added. The Minister received 500 cars to offset the damage done during the January 25 Revolution. 200 cars will be used in Cairo and Giza, while the rest will be distributed amongst the other governorates.
