A goal from Fulham striker Brian McBride was enough to give USA a slender 1-0 win over fellow World Cup hopefuls Angola on Monday. The match was played behind closed doors at the U.S. training camp in the suburb of Norderstedt, Germany. The game, which was more of a scrimmage between the two teams, was played with no journalists or spectators in attendance at the request of USA coach Bruce Arena wanted to keep World Cup Group E opponents: Italy, Czech Republic and Ghana in the dark about his final team preparations. "It's just a training session for both teams," Arena was quoted as saying by the U.S Soccer Association website before the game. Due to FIFA's deadline of June 5 for international matches the game will not be regarded as an official friendly, nor will McBride's strike count towards his international goal tally.
