BORG El-ARAB, Alexanderia, September 19, 2018 - Smouha came from behind to snatch a late 1-1 draw against Zamalek to earn a dramatic point at Borg El-Arab in the seventh round of the Egyptian Premier League. The White Knights entered the game looking for the three points to top the league table, while Smouha wanted to return to winning ways following a three-game winless run. The first chance of the game came in the 22nd minute, when Kasongo's long-range shot went just wide of Abou-Gabal's post. Kasongo nearly opened the scoring for Zamalek when he received a perfect cross from Hamdy El-Nagguez and his shot beat Smouha keeper Abou-Gabal, but it was cleared off the line by Osama Ibrahim. In the 49th minute, Mohamed Abou-Gabal pulled off a brilliant double save to deny Ibrahim Hassan and Youssef Obama. Obama managed to put Zamalek 1-0 up in the 69th minute after going through on goal. The forward received a magnificent through ball from Mahmoud Kahraba and put the ball past Abou-Gabal. The Smouha keeper continued his impressive display and denied Kasongo from doubling his side's lead. Smouha severely punished Zamalek with a late goal through substitute Hossam Hassan, who converted Sherif Reda's cross, making it 1-1. There was still time for more late action, as the Alexandrian side were rewarded a penalty after Hamdy Nagguez fouled Reda in the box, but Yasser Ibrahim hit it over the bar. After the game, Zamalek are 2nd in the Egyptian Premier League with 14 points from seven games, one spot behind Pyramids, while Smouha fifth with 10 points.
