CAIRO, June 9, 2018 (MENA) – Giza criminal court adjourned the trial of Monufia Governor Hisham Abdel Baset and two others over bribery charges to July 7. The court decision came in response to the defense lawyers' requests, including their request for summoning the Administrative Control Authority's officer who pursued the investigations into the case and making transcripts of the phone and other audio or video recordings presented as evidence by the prosecution. Earlier, Prosecutor General Nabil Ahmed Sadeq had ordered referring Abdel Baset and two others to trial, on charges of asking for, offering and accepting more than EGP 27 million in bribes. The three were arrested after investigations conducted by the Administrative Control Authority implicated them in the bribery case. Monufia Governorate is located in the northern part of Egypt in the Nile Delta.
