Published in Daily News Egypt on 22 - 09 - 2022

Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, held a meeting on Wednesday, in the framework of the cooperation protocol signed between the two ministries in November 2020, regarding the development of the technological infrastructure of tourism establishments.
The meeting tackled the progress of a project to raise the network efficiency in hotel establishments in Sharm El-Sheikh, in preparation for the 27th Conference of the Parties on climate change (COP27) next November.
A total of 47 hotel establishments have raised their network efficiency, and 53 others are scheduled to follow within the next two weeks.
The project also includes other governorates. A total of 46 four and five-star hotels in Cairo and Goza also raised their network efficiency in the first phase of the project. The second phase, which includes Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria, and South Sinai, will start in October. This phase includes more than 340 hotel establishments.
The meeting also touched on the executive position of the rest of the projects related to digital transformation in light of the cooperation protocol between the two ministries, including a project to develop the digital service portal of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, which was launched last August.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is scheduled to organize a workshop in cooperation with the Chamber of Hotel Establishments, in which representatives of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority and hotel establishments in Sharm El-Sheikh will participate, with the aim of developing solutions to the technological challenges facing these parties.
The two sides also agreed to issue commemorative postage stamps to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the deciphering of ancient Egyptian writing and the emergence of Egyptology and the 100th anniversary of the discovery and promotion of King Tutankhamun's tomb.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities had gifted the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology an antique vehicle for transporting postal materials, 1870 model, which was among the collections of the Royal Vehicles Museum to be displayed at the Egyptian Post Museum.
