Published in Daily News Egypt on 27 - 12 - 2021

Cairo hosted on Monday a meeting attended by the foreign ministers and heads of the intelligence services of Egypt and Jordan, as well as the minister of civil affairs and the head of the intelligence service of Palestine.
The meeting aimed to coordinate positions and visions on how to follow up the outcomes of the tripartite summit held in Cairo on 2 September 2021, and to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian issue in the recent period.
The meeting comes within the framework of the keenness to strengthen strategic relations between Egypt, Jordan and Palestine, and to intensify the level of continuous coordination between them to unite efforts towards the developments and challenges facing the Palestinian issue, and in implementation of the decisions of the tripartite summit held in Cairo.
The ministers discussed ways to strengthen relations and developments related to the peace process, efforts to strengthen Palestinian unity, and assess the situation on the ground in the state of Palestine in the light of the continuing illegal measures that undermine the chances of achieving a just peace in the Occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.
They also discussed the establishment of a comprehensive pacification and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip, and the creation of a political horizon for achieving a just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution,
This embodies the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with occupied East Jerusalem as its capital on the borders of 4 June 1967, in accordance with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.
In this context, a number of proposals aimed at breaking the current deadlock in the peace process have been examined.
The ministers also discussed the contacts made by the three countries at the regional and international levels, and discussed ways to activate international frameworks related to the situation in the Palestinian territories and the path of a peaceful settlement.
