From recycling to clean energy, Expo 2020 Dubai puts spotlight on climate change solutions
Expo 2020 Dubai will address environmental concerns, solutions, as part of Expo Live Impact Series during Climate & Biodiversity Week

This October, Expo 2020 Dubai will address environmental concerns and their potential solutions, as part of the Expo Live Impact Series, which will take place during Climate & Biodiversity Week – the event's first themed week.
Climate & Biodiversity Week, which runs from 3-9 October, will bring together experts and innovators from across the globe for a series of panel discussions, tackling everything from carbon footprints and single-use plastics to clean energy adoption and recycling.
Collaborators have been sourced from countries as diverse as Chile, Portugal, China, The Netherlands, Norway, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, India, Armenia, Morocco, Italy, Argentina and Bahrain, and the speakers will present case studies and real-life experiences to help uncover solutions to the biggest environmental issues.
Taking place at The Hub, located on the first floor of the Expo Live Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, highlights are set to include "Reducing our Footprint (and the Tech that Can Help)" at 4pm on 4 October, featuring China's Luhui Yan, Founder at Carbon Stop; Chile's Jose Manuel Moller, Founder at Algramo; the UK's Andy Tomkins, EMEA Sustainability Engagement Manager at Canon; and Marta Tomzka, eGovernment Digitization from Serbia.
On 5 October at 4pm, the focus will shift to "Powering Up Communities with Clean Energy (and Easy Financing)", with a line-up of speakers that includes Chile's Cristian O'Ryan, Founder at Endurance Electric; and Portugal's Vivian Vendeirinho, Founder at RVE.SOL. On the same day at 5.30pm, there is discussion on "A Green Recovery", exploring reforestation and restoring the balance of nature, featuring Atle Idland, Founder at Desert Control from Norway; Rebekah Braswell, Founder at Land Life from The Netherlands; and Russia's Elena Gorokhova, Founder at PosadiLes.
"Turning the Tide on Single-Use Plastics" will be the topic on 6 October at 4pm, with a panel discussion featuring South Africa's Georgina De Kock, Founder at Munch Bowls; India's Nishant Singhal, Founder at Ecoware; and Russia's Ivan Zakharov, CTO at CLEAPL.
On 7 October at 4pm, the spotlight will shift to circular economies and waste management solutions, featuring a panel discussion on "Recycling that Makes a Difference", with speakers set to include India's Siddharth Hande, Founder at Kabadiwalla Connect; Armenia's Irina Mkrtchyan, Founder at ISSD; Morocco's Saif Eddine Laalej, CEO at Zelij Invent; and Slovakia's Martin Basila, Founder at Sensoneo.
Wrapping up the Expo Live Impact Series on 8 October at 4pm will be a discussion on "Collaborate with Nature", featuring the following speakers: Bahrain's Tariq Al Olaimy, Co-Founder at Public-Planet Partnerships (PPP); and Italy's Alessandro Bianciardi, Founder at Planet di Villa Alessandro.
