56.7% of Egypt's Nasser Leadership Fellowship participants are African
Fellowship is scheduled to take place on 1-15 June in Cairo
Published in Daily News Egypt on 05 - 05 - 2021

A total of 56.7% of Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership participants are African, representing the largest share of participants.
Meanwhile, applicants from Asia and Latin America averaged about 35.6% and 7.7%, respectively, of the total number of applicants.
The statistical classifications of applicants were revealed by Egypt's Ministry of Youth and Sports at the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership's second Cohort, hosted under the auspices of Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
The meeting was held under the theme "South-South Cooperation". The fellowship is scheduled to take place between 1 and 15 June 2021 in Cairo.
There are about 1,317 pre-registered applicants for the fellowship, with females constituting about 41.7% and males about 58.3%.
Almost 55.8% of applicants fall within the 25 to 35 years age group, whilst 32.6% fall within the 20 to 25 years age group. Applicants aged between 35 and 40 constitute only about 11.6% of the total number of applicants.
Registration was closed on 3 May, with the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership serving as an example of the south-south cooperation and one of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Following the United Nations (UN) designation of 12 September of each year as the "United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation", the second Nasser Fellowship adopted the theme of "South-South cooperation".
It aims to increase and improve communication between developing countries, and as a result raising awareness on common problems and increasing opportunities for exchanging knowledge and available experiences.
