High-level US delegation to participate in EGYPS 2020: embassy
We seek to help Egypt realise its ambition to be regional energy leader, says ambassador Cohen
Published in Daily News Egypt on 10 - 02 - 2020

The United States delegates high-level officials at the Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS) 2020, that will run from 11 to 13 February, according to US embassy's statement on Sunday.
The delegation will include US ambassador to Egypt Jonathan Cohen, Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Energy Resources at the US Department of State Frank Fannon, Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy at the US Department of Energy Steven Winberg, and Acting Director of the US Trade and Development Agency Thomas Hardy.
The US government believes that Egypt is positioned to be an important regional energy hub for Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East, the statement added.
"The presence of high-level officials from multiple US agencies at EGYPS 2020 demonstrates the growing commercial partnership between our countries. The US Departments of State and Energy and the US Trade and Development Agency are determined to continue building strong bridges with Egypt," the ambassador said.
On 3 February, Daily News Egypt exclusively published that American companies will participate in EGYPS 2020 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center, according to source at the US embassy in Cairo.
The US seeks to help Egypt realise its ambition to be a regional leader in energy production and distribution, the ambassador said. "Over 20 US companies are participating in EGYPS 2020 as exhibitors, and representatives from a number of US companies are speaking on panels throughout the conference."
The US private sector will be represented not just by big companies, but also by many small and medium–size ones that have quality American products and services to offer to buyers in Egypt and elsewhere, the ambassador added.
As part of the USA pavilion housing US companies at the show, the US Foreign Commercial Service will be providing information and business counseling services from its booth in Hall 3, the statement said.
American companies and attendees can learn more about doing business in Egypt, Egyptian participants can find help sourcing US products and services for application in the energy sector, and the US Foreign Commercial Service can help both sides identify potential business partners, the statement mentioned.
