Zohr field production to increase to 2.5bn cu ft of gas daily next July
Drilling well number 11 in project will add 200m cu ft to production: sources
Published in Daily News Egypt on 10 - 06 - 2019

The Italian company ENI is seeking to increase the production of Zohr field in the deep waters of the Mediterranean Sea to 2.5bn cubic feet (cu ft) of natural gas per day by the end of next month, compared to the current 2.3bn cu ft.

Sources at the oil sector told Daily News Egypt that 200m cu ft of gas will be added to the daily production of the Zohr field after connecting the eleventh well to the treatment plant.

He pointed out that ENI has completed the implementation of the treatment units produced from the field last month. This brought the total capacity of the treatment plant to about 3.2bn cu ft of gas per day.

The source mentioned that the gas processing units of the Zohr field are divided into a temporary unit of 400m cu ft per day and seven units of 2.8bn cu ft at an investment cost of $5bn.

He explained that the condensates production of the Zohr field was estimated to be about 4,000 tonnes per day, as a result of the increase of the project's production rate of natural gas to 2.3bn cu ft per day.

The source also said the field's sulphur production has doubled up to 50 tonnes per day, compared to 25 tonnes last year. This contributes to achieving additional economic revenue from the project.

He said that ENI completed connecting 10 wells within the Zohr field in the deep waters of the Mediterranean with a maximum capacity of 2.3bn cu ft of gas per day.
He explained that the company completed the implementation of the seventh processing unit of the natural gas produced from the Zohr field at the end of last month thus bringing the total production of the project to about 2.3bn cu ft of gas per day.
The source added that the average production of Zohr ranges between 200m to 250m cu ft of gas per day.
The production is connected to the new land station in Al-Gameel area in Port Said to be processed and pumped into the national gas network. This takes place after conducting the technical tests on the processing units and the gas transmission lines that transmit the gas from the wells of the field to the processing plant.
The source added that the company aims to invest more than $4bn in the development of the second phase of the field project in the deep waters of the Mediterranean this year, bringing the total investment to $16bn.

The ministry of petroleum is seeking to accelerate the completion of the Zohr field's next phase in accordance with the instructions of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to accelerate linking the entire production of the project.
