Nine people arrested in Alexandria on charges of forming a terrorist cell
The Interior Ministry claims the suspects are affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood

Security forces based in Alexandria governorate managed on Monday evening to arrest a ‘terrorist cell' affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood group that was working to create a state of chaos in the governorate by rioting, according to a statement issued by the Interior Ministry on its Facebook page.
The Interior Ministry statement said that it has received certain information that orders were out of MB leading figures to some affiliated members stationed in Alexandria governorate to carry out riots acts to create confusion among security forces, the statement said.
"Following the release of orders from leading figures in the Brotherhood, some Brotherhood affiliated members formed a cell under the name Descendants of Omar El Mokhtar to carry out riots, by burning car tires on El Horiya road located in Gianaclis suburb in Alexandria to hinder traffic before fleeing the scene," the statement read.
Consequently, the ministry intensified measures and investigations regarding these members stationing points and arrested nine members of the aforementioned cell. The statement claims those arrested confessed their affiliation to the Brotherhood.
The targeted members were arrested inside Alexandria and forces seized makeshift pistols and tear gas that they were hiding inside their homes. the ministry also alleged that the members admitted they formed the cell and rioted in order to disrupt traffic and stir public opinion.
The Ministry also added through the statement that forces were able to seize the rest of tools used by the members to incite riots, which consisted of two jerry cans of gasoline and three fireworks.
The statement concluded that all legal measures have been carried out against the arrested members who have been referred to prosecution to start investigations.
