North Giza Court sentenced 7 defendants to 8 years in prison and to be fined EGP 500 on Saturday, over accusations of protesting without permission at Kerdasa village, al-Bawaba News reported. The convicts were charged with violating the anti-protest law, and spreading false news through social media platforms. The convicts were arrested on April 27, over protesting against the maritime demarcation agreement between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and handing Tiran and Sanafir islands to the kingdom.
