Assistant foreign minister for multilateral relations, Hisham Badr left Saturday Beijing, heading to Cairo, after attending ministerial meeting of Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA). Beijing hosted Thursday the CICA ministerial meeting, where Badr attended on behalf of minister of foreign affairs, Sameh Shoukry, Al Bawaba News reported. China has confirmed its support for Egypt's presidency of the UN Security Council in May, Badr said Friday in a statement to Middle East News Agency (MENA), stressing that China's positions on international issues of common interest are in line to those of Egypt's. He pointed out that Egypt's membership in the CICA comes as a result of its belief in the importance of enhancing joint cooperation with friendly countries in Asia, especially China, in light of the current challenges facing countries of the region.
